The Dolphins are entering the bye at 3-3, more importantly the team has blown out two consecutive opponents and has won 3 out of their last 4. The team’s incumbent starter has been completing 70% of his passes for over 1,500 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. Not horrible stats but nothing to gawk at either.
For this reason, Brian Flores and company have turned the keys of the franchise over to the 5th overall selection back in April. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Tuesday afternoon that following the Dolphins bye weekend this Sunday, Tua Tagovailoa will be making his first career start at home against the Los Angeles Rams.
The switch to Tua has taken the NFL world by storm as many were not anticipating the Dolphins to switch from Ryan Fitzpatrick at this point in the season, however, the transition to #1 points to some serious optimism regarding this roster going forward.
It is clear that Tagovailoa was showing out during practice and his hip has fully recovered. After coming off the injury report following Week 2, the Alabama product is full go and the playbook will no doubt be wide open.
It will be exciting for all Dolphins fans to see the culmination of so much hype and speculation next Sunday. Be sure to expect some discussion and reporting from us here at PhinsPod! What do you think of this move? Too soon? Or are you happy that the team is going with the youngster?
