After focusing on the offensive line early in the Draft, the Miami Dolphins selected Alabama defensive tackle Raekwon Davis with their second 2nd round pick, 56 overall. This pick was obtained last year when the Dolphins dropped down with the New Orleans Saints.

Davis is a player who has the potential to be a game wrecker. At 6’6 and 311 pounds, Davis will pair very nicely with Christian Wilkins. Strong at the point of attack, and violent with his hands, the Alabama stud faced a multitude of double teams as his reputation grew. Due to this his numbers and production decreased, but his impact was clear on film.

Although he was not the best finisher and did not accumulate many sacks from the interior, he was formidable against weaker guards and centers, pushing the pocket back consistently. With good coaching, Raekwon Davis can grow into a disruptive player for the Dolphins defense for years to come. With Davon Godchaux coming into a contract season, this pick may include some foresight.
