There is a clear plan in place for the Dolphins. Get the franchise, then protect him. The Miami Dolphins did just that by selecting USC offensive tackle Austin Jackson.
Jackson is a behemoth of a man at 6’5 and 322 pounds, however, he is athletic. Jackson moves very well in space, and his long reach allows him to punch and control opposing defensive ends at the point of attack, but his nimble feet make him a force in the swing passing game. Moreover, his footwork is a huge asset in the pass game. Jackson is able to stay in plays even after losing off the initial step.
He is raw, and can overreach allowing athletic pass rushers to bend around him, but this was few and far between on his film. Jackson improved throughout the season and his best football is ahead of him. Jackson is also one hell of a man. Just watch the video below to see his story.
