On Saturday, the Miami Dolphins announced that they have parted way with 6 players who were on the spring roster. The players released were:
WR Andy Jones
WR Terry Wright
LB Jake Carlock
LB Jamal Davis II
DT Gerald Willis
CB Linden Stephens
It’s always unfortunate to see young players lose certain opportunities, but the move was done in order to create more room on the roster for the impending influx of draft picks and free agents.
The team now has lucky number 72 players signed on the team as the league limit is 90. With Miami’s 14 draft picks and propensity to sign a minimum of 8-12 undrafted free agents, there will be more action on the roster. Either the team is planning on releasing some more room, or perhaps the team does not expect to use all 14 picks.
The release of 2 wide receivers and linebackers is not surprising, as those positions are some of the deepest on the team as of now. With emergence of a consistent Parker and blossoming Preston Williams, the team has some good depth to work with. Similarly, the team added to the linebacking corps with multiple free agents including Kyle Van Noy.
